Job Description
We are currently recruiting for the Head of Business Development (Merchant Acquisition) for one of our clients, a fintech and payment company.
Location: Lagos; Work mode: Hybrid; Reporting Line: Managing Director
JOB SUMMARY: The Head of Business Development will be responsible for developing and executing strategies to identify, onboard, and maintain strong partnerships with merchants. This leadership role involves managing a business development team, fostering sustainable revenue growth, and ensuring long-term partnerships with high-value clients.
Role Responsibilities:
1. Develop and implement comprehensive strategies to identify potential merchants and expand the company’s merchant network.
2. Lead market analysis to identify new opportunities, assess market trends, and anticipate
changes that could impact merchant acquisition efforts.
3. Set and achieve merchant acquisition targets and key performance metrics.
4. Build and maintain strong relationships with key merchants to understand their needs and
provide tailored solutions.
5. Serve as the primary point of contact for major merchants and negotiate contracts and
agreements.
6. Implement merchant onboarding processes and ensure seamless integration.
7. Manage the business development budget, ensuring cost-effective allocation of resources.
Qualifications and experience
1. Cognate years of experience in business development, merchant services, or fintech, preferably with a focus on merchant acquisition and growth.
2. Should hold or have held a C-suite position within the organization.
3. Must have experience leading a partnerships department.
4. Must have managed a team of at least 5 people.
5. Should have experience working closely with software engineers.
6. Must possess knowledge of integrating with merchants’ platforms.
7. Must be familiar with receipt and settlement processes for merchants.
8. Should understand the processes involved in onboarding international merchants
9. Must have an understanding of cryptocurrency, including acquiring
assets like USDT.
10. Should be proficient in handling MIDs issued by banks.
