Job Description

Samsung Heavy Industries Nigeria is hiring a Network Support Officer to support and maintain its computer networks and systems. The role involves designing, installing, troubleshooting, and maintaining local and wide area networks, ensuring smooth connectivity and minimal downtime for users. This position requires a strong technical background, analytical skills, and the ability to resolve both simple and complex IT issues efficiently.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design, install, and maintain computer networks, including LAN, WAN, cables, and peripheral devices.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve network and computer system issues, ensuring maximum uptime.
  • Configure and test network hardware, software, and related devices.
  • Perform upgrades, backups, and preventive maintenance without disrupting business operations.
  • Guide employees on basic network use and resolution of minor issues.
  • Diagnose and solve complex network problems, providing recovery solutions when necessary.
  • Prepare and configure computers, install operating systems and applications, and perform minor repairs.
  • Provide timely reporting and documentation of IT activities and issues.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related field.
  • 2–3 years of proven experience in network support.
  • Strong knowledge of LAN/WAN technologies, TCP/IP protocol, and network systems.
  • Familiarity with computer software, hardware, and peripherals.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Good communication skills to explain technical concepts to non-technical staff.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite for reporting.
  • Professional certifications in networking (e.g., CCNA, CompTIA Network+) will be an added advantage.
