Senior Production Geologist

Job Description

A leading oil and gas operator in Nigeria is seeking an experienced Senior Production Geologist to support subsurface teams in optimizing field performance and enhancing recovery. This full-time position, based in Victoria Island, Lagos, requires a seasoned professional with deep expertise in reservoir characterization, geological modeling, and production optimization. The role offers the opportunity to collaborate with multidisciplinary teams while driving impactful solutions in reservoir development.

Key Responsibilities

• Contribute to field development planning by integrating geological data to recommend optimal drilling locations and production strategies.
• Perform reservoir characterization studies, utilizing seismic, well logs, and production data to build accurate geological models.
• Provide geological support during drilling operations, ensuring accurate wellbore placement and effective data acquisition.
• Collaborate with reservoir engineers, geophysicists, and other technical specialists to deliver integrated solutions for reservoir optimization.
• Prepare technical reports, presentations, and documentation for senior management and stakeholders.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Geology, Earth Sciences, or related discipline (postgraduate degree preferred).
• Minimum of 8–15 years of experience in production geology, with at least 6 years in a senior-level role within a major oil and gas company.
• Proven expertise in geological and geophysical software such as Petrel, Geoteric, or Rockdoc.
• Strong knowledge of seismic acquisition, reservoir modeling, stratigraphy, sedimentology, and structural geology.
• Demonstrated ability to support drilling operations, reservoir management, and reserves estimation.
• Excellent analytical, communication, and problem-solving skills with leadership and mentoring capacity.
