Job Description
A leading oil and gas organization is seeking an experienced Principal Exploration Geoscientist to join its subsurface development team in Lagos, Nigeria. This full-time, on-site role focuses on integrated geological and geophysical interpretation, driving exploration strategies, and contributing to reserves growth.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct detailed subsurface geological and geophysical evaluations to identify and mature prospects for exploration and development.
- Perform technical appraisals, risk assessments, and reserve evaluations of assets and opportunities.
- Lead multidisciplinary teams in well planning, reservoir management, and drilling operations to ensure safe and efficient execution.
- Supervise the acquisition, processing, and management of geological and geophysical data to support exploration decisions.
- Provide expert input into field development planning, quality assurance processes, and prospect reviews to maximize reserves and reduce operational risks.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Geoscience, Geology, Earth Science, Geophysics, Physics, or a related field; a Master’s is required; PhD is an advantage.
- 16–20 years of experience in exploration and production, with at least 6 years in a leadership or managerial geoscience role.
- Strong expertise in subsurface evaluation disciplines, petroleum engineering data sets, seismic interpretation, stratigraphy, petrophysics, and volumetric estimation.
- Proficiency in PETREL and KINGDOM software; knowledge of additional interpretation tools is an asset.
- Demonstrated leadership in managing multidisciplinary, multicultural teams and fostering collaboration across diverse environments.
