Job Description

A fast-growing Health Maintenance Organization (HMO) is seeking an experienced Head, Finance / Accounts & HR / Admin to join its senior management team at the Head Office in Abuja. This is a strategic leadership role reporting directly to the Chief Executive Officer, with responsibility for financial stewardship, human resource management, and administrative oversight in a regulated healthcare environment.

Key Responsibilities

Finance / Accounts

  • Develop and implement financial strategy, budgets, forecasts, and long-term financial plans.
  • Oversee accurate and timely preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports, providing insights to support executive decision-making.
  • Ensure compliance with tax, regulatory, statutory, and NHIA requirements relevant to HMO operations.
  • Manage revenue cycle processes including claims, reimbursements, payments, and contract compliance.
  • Monitor cash flow, receivables, payables, and working capital to maintain financial stability.
  • Coordinate internal and external audits and serve as the primary audit liaison.
  • Implement effective internal controls to safeguard assets and ensure financial discipline.
  • Lead, mentor, and develop finance/accounts and HR/Admin teams for high performance.

Human Resources (Strategic & Operational)

  • Design and implement HR strategies, policies, and initiatives aligned with business objectives.
  • Oversee recruitment, onboarding, performance management, and exit processes.
  • Manage payroll, compensation structures, benefits, and reward programs.
  • Drive training and development initiatives to build workforce capability.
  • Handle employee relations, disciplinary processes, and conflict resolution.
  • Ensure compliance with labor laws, data protection, and health & safety regulations.
  • Promote a positive, inclusive, and performance-driven workplace culture.

Administration

  • Oversee day-to-day office operations, facilities, infrastructure, and supplies.
  • Maintain accurate personnel records, HR databases, and filing systems.
  • Enforce company policies, procedures, and internal guidelines.
  • Manage correspondence, travel arrangements, meetings, and events.
  • Prepare management reports, HR metrics, and expense analyses.

Required Skills and Competencies

  • Solid understanding of healthcare finance, NHIA guidelines, and HMO operations.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office tools (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
  • Strong knowledge of accounting software and ERP systems, including Sage.
  • Ability to translate complex financial data into clear insights for non-financial stakeholders.
  • Capacity to work independently and collaboratively in a senior leadership role.

Qualifications and Experience

  • Minimum of a first degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related discipline.
  • Master’s degree in Finance, Business Administration, or a related field is an advantage.
  • Professional certification and membership required (ICAN, ACCA, ANAN, CPA, FRCN or equivalent).
  • At least 10 years of post-graduation experience, with a minimum of 5 years in a senior management role.
  • Prior experience within the healthcare or HMO sector is an added advantage.

Compensation
