Job Description

The Sous Chef will work closely with the Head Chef to manage daily kitchen operations, maintain consistency in food preparation, and ensure timely service delivery. The role involves supervising kitchen staff, enforcing food safety standards, and contributing to menu planning and inventory management.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist the Head Chef in overseeing daily kitchen operations and food production
  • Ensure all dishes meet approved recipes, presentation guidelines, and quality standards
  • Supervise kitchen staff, delegate tasks, and manage workflow during service periods
  • Enforce food safety, hygiene, and sanitation standards in line with regulations
  • Support menu development, food costing, and inventory control processes
  • Act on behalf of the Head Chef when required to ensure uninterrupted kitchen operations
  • Train, coach, and motivate kitchen team members to maintain high performance

Requirements

  • Proven experience as a Sous Chef or Senior Chef in a reputable hotel or restaurant
  • Strong expertise in continental cuisines
  • Excellent leadership, organizational, and communication skills
  • Ability to work under pressure and manage multiple tasks effectively
  • Sound knowledge of food safety regulations and kitchen best practices
  • Relevant culinary qualification or professional certification is an added advantage
