Job Description
Premiere Urgence Internationale (PUI) is recruiting a qualified Stabilization Center Medical Doctor to support the effective management of Severe Acute Malnutrition (SAM) cases with medical complications. The role focuses on the day-to-day clinical and operational management of the Stabilization Center, ensuring high-quality medical care in line with national and international protocols, while providing technical leadership and supervision to the SC team.
Key Responsibilities
Medical Functions
- Conduct daily ward rounds (morning and evening), document clinical findings, and ensure appropriate follow-up of all patients
- Supervise and oversee the clinical management of SAM patients with complications in line with SC protocols
- Monitor comprehensive health checks, vital signs, medication administration, and therapeutic feeding schedules
- Lead and respond to medical emergencies, including resuscitation when required
- Make decisions on patient admissions, referrals, and discharges in coordination with relevant health units
Team Management
- Supervise SC Nurses and Nurse Assistants, ensuring compliance with PUI internal rules and standards
- Prepare and manage duty rosters, schedules, and staff rotations for the SC team
- Provide on-the-job mentoring, capacity building, and technical training to SC and pediatric ward staff
- Support the implementation of weekly and monthly activity plans approved by the Nutrition PM
Monitoring and Reporting
- Ensure proper functioning of the Stabilization Center in line with project objectives and donor requirements
- Monitor daily SC activities and ensure adherence to national and international treatment guidelines
- Compile, analyze, and submit accurate weekly and monthly SC activity reports
- Report progress, challenges, and incidents in a timely manner
Logistics, Coordination, and Representation
- Coordinate with the Nutrition PM, logistics team, and pharmacist to ensure timely supply and proper storage of medicines and nutrition commodities
- Supervise the rational use of medical supplies, nutrition products, and data tools
- Liaise with PHCs, tertiary health facilities, MoH, WHO, and other stakeholders to support patient care and referrals
- Participate in coordination meetings and technical working groups when required
Requirements
Education and Certification
- Qualified and registered Medical Doctor from a recognized university
- Valid practicing license from the Medical and Dental Council of Nigeria (MDCN)
Experience
- Minimum of 2 years’ progressive experience in a similar role as a Stabilization Center or SAM physician
- Demonstrated knowledge of Ministry of Health systems and structures
- Previous experience with CMAM programs and humanitarian organizations is an added advantage

- Strong commitment to humanitarian and NGO principles
Language and IT Skills
- Fluency in English
- Hausa is mandatory; Kanuri is an added advantage
- Proficiency in MS Office applications (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint)
