Job Description

Smartcash PSB, Airtel Nigeria’s Payment Service Bank, is scaling its digital banking operations to deepen financial inclusion across Nigeria. The Head of Growth role is a senior leadership position focused on accelerating customer acquisition, retention, and revenue growth while expanding Smartcash PSB’s active user base and transaction volumes in a competitive fintech landscape.

Key Responsibilities

  • Define and execute Smartcash PSB’s end-to-end growth strategy covering customer acquisition, retention, and monetization across digital and offline channels.
  • Lead go-to-market strategies for new product launches, market entry initiatives, and promotional campaigns.
  • Drive large-scale customer acquisition through ATL/BTL campaigns, digital marketing, partnerships, and community-based initiatives.
  • Build and optimize referral programs, incentive models, and viral growth loops to accelerate organic user growth.
  • Improve customer activation, engagement, and retention by analyzing user journeys and addressing friction points.
  • Collaborate with Product, Sales, and Customer Experience teams to increase wallet share through cross-sell and up-sell initiatives.
  • Use data analytics, dashboards, and A/B testing to identify growth opportunities and optimize performance.
  • Establish and manage strategic partnerships with fintechs, telcos, FMCGs, MSMEs, and ecosystem players to expand market reach.

Requirements / Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Economics, Marketing, or a related field.
  • MBA or postgraduate qualification is an added advantage.
  • 7–10 years of experience in growth, marketing, or business development, preferably within fintech, telecoms, or digital platforms.
  • Proven experience scaling large customer bases and delivering aggressive growth targets.
  • Strong knowledge of digital marketing, performance marketing, and growth experimentation frameworks.
  • Data-driven mindset with hands-on experience using analytics tools such as Google Analytics, Mixpanel, and similar platforms; SQL proficiency is an advantage.
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and cross-functional collaboration skills.
