Job Description
The Senior / Lead Project Engineer / Coordinator role is a senior technical and coordination position within oil and gas project delivery. This position provides technical leadership across project planning, engineering, construction, and execution, ensuring projects are delivered safely, on schedule, within budget, and in compliance with quality and regulatory standards.
Key Responsibilities
Project Planning & Coordination
- Lead the development of project execution plans, schedules, work breakdown structures, and resource plans
- Coordinate multidisciplinary engineering teams, contractors, and vendors to ensure seamless project execution
- Organize and participate in project review meetings, ensuring timely resolution of design and construction issues
- Track project progress against plans, identify deviations, and implement corrective actions
Technical Leadership & Engineering Oversight
- Provide senior-level technical input and guidance on all engineering deliverables in line with industry codes and project requirements
- Review and approve engineering drawings, specifications, and calculations
- Ensure constructability considerations are incorporated early into engineering design
- Support procurement of materials and equipment, including technical evaluations and vendor clarifications
Construction & Site Coordination
- Oversee field engineering activities to ensure construction is executed according to approved drawings and standards
- Liaise with construction supervisors, site teams, and contractors to address technical queries and site changes
- Monitor contractor performance, ensuring adherence to safety procedures, quality standards, and project timelines
Reporting, Cost Control & Compliance
- Provide regular updates on project progress, risks, and KPIs to project management and clients
- Support cost control, budget tracking, and change management processes
- Prepare technical reports, meeting minutes, and project documentation
- Ensure all engineering and construction activities comply with QHSE policies and regulatory standards
- Promote a strong safety culture across project teams and contractors
Qualifications & Experience (Requirements)
- Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Civil, Electrical, Chemical, or related discipline)
- Minimum of 12 years of experience in project engineering, project coordination, and/or construction supervision within the oil and gas sector
- Proven experience leading multidisciplinary engineering teams and managing complex projects from design to commissioning
- Strong knowledge of engineering standards, project management methodologies, and construction practices
- Proficiency in project scheduling tools such as MS Project or Primavera P6 and relevant engineering software
- Excellent communication, leadership, and stakeholder management skills
