Head of Downstream Operations

Job Description

A fast-growing energy and infrastructure services group is seeking an experienced Head of Downstream Operations to oversee multi-energy downstream assets across Lagos. This senior leadership role is responsible for driving operational excellence, safety compliance, commercial performance, and coordinated management of fuel stations, CNG facilities, LPG filling plants, and hybrid energy sites.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead and supervise all downstream service stations including PMS, AGO, DPK, CNG, LPG, and hybrid energy sites.
• Ensure stations operate with maximum efficiency, safety compliance, service quality, and profitability.
• Oversee fuel product ordering, stock management, pump calibration, reconciliation, and equipment readiness.
• Manage CNG filling stations, compressors, dispensers, conversion workshops, pressure levels, quality control, and maintenance schedules.
• Supervise LPG filling plant operations including digital scales, cylinder integrity, bottling processes, and distribution schedules.
• Monitor P&L performance for each station, track margins, revenues, operating costs, and daily sales reports.
• Ensure proper cash handling, POS reconciliation, and bank lodgments across all locations.
• Enforce compliance with NMDPRA, SON, Pi-CNG, DPR/NUPRC, environmental boards, and relevant state authorities.
• Conduct safety audits, HSE briefings, and implement robust safety systems for fuel, CNG, LPG, and hybrid operations.
• Maintain pumps, compressors, generators, tanks, pipelines, CNG skids, and retail shop assets.
• Support construction, expansion, upgrades, and operational readiness of new and existing stations.
• Prepare weekly and monthly performance reports and provide strategic input on pricing, supply risks, and market trends.

Qualifications & Requirements

• Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, Energy Management, Operations, Business Administration, or a related field.
• 7–10 years of proven experience in downstream operations within fuel, CNG, and LPG environments.
• Demonstrated experience managing multi-station operations across fuel, gas, and energy assets.
• Strong working knowledge of downstream regulatory frameworks and safety standards.
• Proven leadership and people management capability across technical and commercial teams.
• Strong financial acumen with experience managing P&L and operational budgets.
• Excellent communication, stakeholder management, and reporting skills.
• High safety awareness, attention to detail, and strong problem-solving ability.
