Job Description

Canonical Nigeria is seeking an experienced and strategic GitOps Engineering Manager to lead high-performing DevOps teams in a fully remote capacity. This role blends operations management, software engineering, product development, and team leadership into a single high-impact position. The ideal candidate will possess strong Linux and cloud expertise, deep experience in infrastructure as code, and the ability to drive operational excellence across distributed systems.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead and manage a high-performance DevOps team using agile methodologies and GitOps best practices
  • Represent the IS team to stakeholders, customers, and internal departments
  • Organize, coordinate, and drive internal engineering and operations projects
  • Mentor and develop engineers to enhance technical and professional growth
  • Identify, monitor, and improve team performance and health indicators
  • Implement structured engineering and operational processes to ensure efficiency
  • Maintain strong focus on priorities, milestones, and deliverables
  • Ensure global service level agreements (SLAs) are met for customer deployments
  • Deliver consistent, high-quality managed services in a timely manner

Requirements
  • Proven track record of exceeding performance expectations in engineering leadership roles
  • Demonstrated experience delivering software using infrastructure as code (IaC)
  • Proven experience managing DevOps teams within SaaS or similar technology environments
  • Strong understanding of testing methodologies and maintainable code quality standards
  • Technical expertise in Linux systems and complex distributed architectures
  • Hands-on experience with cloud topologies and modern cloud technologies
  • Ability to travel internationally twice a year for company events (up to two weeks each)
  • Exceptional academic background from both secondary and tertiary institutions
