Job Description
BURN Manufacturing operates a production facility in Kano focused on manufacturing clean, energy-efficient cooking stoves. The company is seeking an experienced Senior HR Officer to support and strengthen human resource operations at the Kano factory and across broader Nigerian operations. This role is essential in ensuring smooth HR processes, regulatory compliance, and employee well-being within a manufacturing environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee and manage the onboarding process for all new employees, including contract documentation, policies, rules, and procedures
- Address HR-related issues raised by employees and escalate matters to management when necessary
- Administer and monitor the staff medical allowance scheme, ensuring authenticity of claims and timely reimbursements
- Coordinate medical check-ups for employees and manage exit procedures, including documentation sign-off and return of company property
- Maintain and update the training calendar while capturing and tracking employee training needs
- Handle recruitment for casual, full-time, and managerial staff positions
- Review and communicate updates to company policies, ensuring employees are properly trained on changes
- Monitor contract expiry dates using electronic employee records to prevent lapses
- Collect and manage required documentation for contract preparation
- Perform additional HR duties as assigned by management
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Industrial Relations or a related field
- Minimum of 5 years’ HR experience within the manufacturing sector
- Strong understanding of Nigerian Labour legislation
- Excellent organisational and administrative skills
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, especially Excel and PowerPoint
- Strong people management and communication skills
- Fluency in English and proficiency in Hausa
- Ability to commute or relocate to Kano
- Membership in a recognised HR professional body is an added advantage
