Job Description
O.K.I. (Nig) Limited is seeking an experienced Senior Quantity Surveyor to oversee the commercial and scheduling aspects of major construction and engineering projects. The role focuses on cost management, contract administration, and project scheduling to ensure projects are delivered on time and within budget. The successful candidate will play a key role in monitoring project finances, managing contractor relationships, and supporting project delivery through effective planning and analysis.
Responsibilities
- Prepare detailed Bills of Engineering Measurement and Evaluation (BEME) and Bills of Quantities (BOQ) for tender submissions and project planning.
- Review and manage construction contracts to safeguard commercial interests and minimize exposure to unfavorable clauses or liquidated damages.
- Prepare and submit interim valuations, manage variation orders, and ensure proper documentation and payment for additional works.
- Manage sub-contractor accounts from procurement and work order issuance to final account settlement.
- Conduct Cost-to-Complete (CTC) analysis and compare project budgets against actual expenditures to identify potential overruns early.
- Develop and maintain comprehensive project schedules using Primavera P6 or MS Project, including defining Work Breakdown Structures and critical paths.
- Monitor site progress against baseline schedules and develop recovery strategies when delays occur.
- Prepare integrated weekly and monthly reports showing project financial status, progress performance, and risk updates.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s Degree in Quantity Surveying, Building, Civil Engineering, or a related field. A Master’s degree is an advantage.
- Must be a registered member of Nigerian Institute of Quantity Surveyors (NIQS).
- 10–12 years of relevant experience in the construction industry, including at least 5 years in a senior or leadership role.
- Strong proficiency in Primavera P6 or MS Project and advanced Microsoft Excel for financial analysis and modeling.
- Familiarity with industry software such as WinQS or CANDY is an added advantage.
- Strong negotiation and communication skills for managing client and subcontractor relationships.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities for interpreting site and financial data.
