Job Description

Moniepoint Incorporated is recruiting a highly experienced and strategic professional for the position of Head of Recovery. This leadership role is responsible for developing and executing the company’s debt recovery framework to minimize credit losses and improve recovery efficiency.

The ideal candidate will possess strong legal expertise in debt litigation, asset recovery, and credit risk management, along with proven experience leading large-scale recovery operations across Nigeria. This role also involves stakeholder management, performance optimization, and building an effective recovery structure capable of handling high-value non-performing loans.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement effective recovery strategies to reduce non-performing loans and bad debt exposure.
  • Serve as the lead legal strategist for the recovery department while ensuring compliance with financial regulations and debt collection laws.
  • Manage relationships with external stakeholders including law enforcement agencies, regulators, and external legal counsel.
  • Design the recovery organizational structure and oversee recruitment and onboarding of recovery professionals.
  • Set performance targets and KPIs to improve the efficiency and productivity of the recovery team.
  • Conduct regular training sessions for recovery personnel in line with industry best practices and recovery strategies.
  • Analyze recovery data and generate performance reports for senior management decision-making.
  • Collaborate with internal departments such as legal, credit, finance, and risk management teams to strengthen recovery processes.

Job Requirements

Interested candidates should possess the following qualifications and experience:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Law (LLB).
  • Minimum of 7 years’ experience in debt recovery, litigation, or credit recovery within Nigeria.
  • Strong understanding of Nigerian debt recovery laws, banking regulations, and court procedures.
  • Proven experience managing recovery operations involving high-value non-performing loans.
  • Demonstrated experience handling recovery activities across the six geo-political zones in Nigeria.
  • Strong network of legal and law enforcement contacts nationwide.
  • Excellent negotiation, analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
  • Experience in team leadership, people management, and performance management.
  • Knowledge of data analytics, credit risk management, and recovery reporting processes.
