Job Description

M-KOPA Nigeria is seeking an experienced Lead AI Engineer – Financial Inclusion to lead its AI Operations team and drive the development of intelligent automations and AI-powered solutions across the organization. This role offers the opportunity to build and scale AI agents that improve operational efficiency, support internal teams, and contribute to expanding financial inclusion across Africa.

The successful candidate will lead a growing AI Operations function, oversee the delivery of impactful AI initiatives, and collaborate with multiple teams to integrate AI capabilities into business processes and customer-facing products.

Job Responsibilities

  • Lead and mentor a team of AI Operations Engineers, overseeing performance, delivery, and professional development.
  • Design, build, and deploy AI-powered automations and intelligent agents that improve productivity across internal and customer-facing teams.
  • Manage and prioritize AI projects and requests from different departments using structured prioritization frameworks.
  • Maintain and optimize the organization’s AI tooling ecosystem as adoption grows across thousands of employees.
  • Evaluate emerging AI technologies and identify practical solutions that create measurable business value.
  • Support the integration of AI capabilities into products and internal systems.
  • Contribute to AI training and knowledge-sharing initiatives across engineering and business teams.
  • Ensure AI solutions are scalable, reliable, and aligned with business objectives.

Job Requirements

  • Proven experience building automations using scripting, workflow tools, or AI-assisted development platforms.
  • Hands-on experience developing AI agents using frameworks such as LangChain, MCP, Google ADK, or similar technologies.
  • Strong background working with enterprise platforms, identity automation systems, internal tools, or rapid prototyping environments.
  • Previous experience leading, mentoring, or managing engineering teams.
  • Excellent problem-solving, communication, and stakeholder management skills.
  • Ability to evaluate new technologies and distinguish practical solutions from industry trends.
  • Product-focused mindset with a strong emphasis on delivering measurable outcomes.

Technical Environment

  • AI & Agent Frameworks: Claude, Claude Code, Anthropic tools, LangChain, MCP, Google ADK, and related technologies.
  • Automation & Development: Workflow automation tools, scripting, AI-assisted development, Vercel, Railway, and rapid prototyping platforms.
  • Enterprise Systems: Entra, Notion, HiBob, and other internal business platforms.
