Job Description

Nearmap is seeking an experienced Senior Software Engineer to join its Insurance Applications team. This role involves designing, developing, and maintaining backend software solutions that support the company’s insurance products. The successful candidate will work with APIs, microservices, cloud technologies, relational databases, and messaging systems while collaborating with cross functional teams to deliver scalable and reliable software solutions.

Key Responsibilities
  • Design, develop, maintain, and support scalable microservices and RESTful APIs.
  • Build high quality backend applications using C#, Node.js, and JavaScript.
  • Write unit tests, integration tests, and automated system tests to ensure software quality.
  • Lead the design and implementation of major software components and technical solutions.
  • Collaborate with product and engineering teams to define technical requirements and deliver business solutions.
  • Develop and optimize messaging workflows using RabbitMQ.
  • Design and maintain relational database solutions with PostgreSQL.
  • Manage project priorities, timelines, and deliverables while ensuring timely completion.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives across the engineering organization.
  • Ensure compliance with company policies, ethical standards, and applicable legal requirements.
Job Requirements
  • Minimum of 5 years of professional software engineering experience.
  • Strong experience with C# and Node.js or JavaScript.
  • Solid understanding of microservices architecture and API development.
  • Experience working with cloud platforms, preferably AWS.
  • Strong knowledge of relational databases, preferably PostgreSQL.
  • Experience using messaging systems such as RabbitMQ.
  • Excellent problem solving and analytical skills.
  • Strong written, verbal, and visual communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with cross functional teams.
  • Willingness to learn new technologies and contribute across different engineering projects.
