Hydropower Project Engineer

A reputable organization is seeking a skilled Hydropower Project Engineer to support the planning, design, implementation, and commissioning of small hydropower projects. This role is ideal for an experienced renewable energy professional with strong technical expertise in hydropower systems, water resource management, and project execution. The successful candidate will contribute to the delivery of efficient and sustainable energy solutions while ensuring compliance with engineering and safety standards.

Responsibilities

• Conduct feasibility studies and site assessments for small hydropower projects.
• Design and review hydropower systems, including turbines and related mechanical components.
• Coordinate turbine installation, testing, and project commissioning activities.
• Manage water resource assessments to support project planning and performance.
• Prepare technical reports, engineering documentation, and project progress updates.
• Collaborate with project stakeholders, contractors, and regulatory bodies to ensure successful project delivery.
• Ensure all engineering activities comply with industry standards, environmental regulations, and safety requirements.
• Monitor project timelines, budgets, and technical performance throughout the project lifecycle.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Energy Engineering, or a related engineering discipline.
• Minimum of 4 years’ experience in renewable energy projects, particularly hydropower.
• Strong understanding of hydropower systems, turbine technology, and water resource management.
• Experience conducting technical feasibility studies and site evaluations.
• Knowledge of project commissioning processes and engineering best practices.
• Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and project coordination skills.
• Strong communication and report-writing abilities.
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively within multidisciplinary teams.

Salary

₦450,000 – ₦520,000 monthly, including performance bonuses, HMO, pension, and travel allowances.
