Job Description
LemFi (formerly Lemonade Finance) is seeking an experienced AML Ops Lead – Transaction Monitoring to join its Compliance Operations team. The role focuses on leading AML analysts, overseeing transaction monitoring investigations, strengthening compliance controls, and improving operational processes in a high-volume fintech environment.
Responsibilities
- Lead, coach, and develop a team of AML analysts through regular feedback, performance reviews, tailored coaching, and continuous learning.
- Oversee transaction monitoring alerts and investigations, ensuring cases are thoroughly reviewed, clearly documented, and appropriately closed or escalated.
- Conduct independent quality assurance reviews of completed transaction monitoring investigations before closure or escalation.
- Monitor team performance against SLAs, quality standards, false-positive rates, and other key metrics, using insights to drive improvements.
- Identify operational inefficiencies and implement improvements across workflows, technology, processes, and procedures in collaboration with compliance and engineering teams.
- Handle complex and high-risk cases in partnership with compliance teams and communicate findings effectively to senior stakeholders.
- Monitor emerging AML typologies and regulatory developments, including OFAC, FCA, and FINTRAC requirements, and incorporate relevant updates into investigation practices.
- Escalate control weaknesses, high-risk cases, and process or tooling issues promptly in line with established procedures.
Requirements
- 4–6 years of experience in AML or Compliance Operations.
- Hands-on experience in transaction monitoring or financial crime investigations, preferably within remittance, payments, or a related high-volume environment.
- Proven experience leading or supervising AML analysts, including coaching team members through performance challenges.
- Working knowledge of OFAC, FCA, and FINTRAC regulations, with the ability to make sound, risk-based compliance decisions.
- Experience identifying and resolving operational inefficiencies through improved workflows, technology, or team processes.
- Strong written communication skills for internal escalations, audit responses, and regulatory documentation.
- Strong stakeholder management and communication skills, including confidence engaging senior stakeholders.
- Ability to adapt to changing operational requirements and regulatory environments across global markets.
Nice to Have
- Experience working across multiple financial products such as remittance, credit, savings, or multi-currency accounts.
- Familiarity with AI-assisted transaction monitoring tools or case management platforms.
- Professional certification such as CAMS, ICA Diploma, or an equivalent qualification.
