Lab Technician

Job Description

A firm is seeking a Lab Technician to conduct laboratory and field tests on soil, concrete, asphalt, aggregates, and other construction materials, ensuring they meet required project specifications and quality standards.

Location: Ibadan, Oyo State
Salary: ₦200,000 – ₦250,000 monthly

Key Responsibilities

• Collect, prepare, and test construction material samples.
• Conduct soil tests including moisture content, sieve analysis, Atterberg limits, Proctor and CBR.
• Perform concrete tests including slump, sampling, cube preparation, and compressive-strength tests.
• Conduct asphalt and aggregate tests, including gradation, density, bitumen/asphalt content, and Marshall/mix-design tests.
• Carry out field density and other on-site material tests.
• Operate, clean, calibrate, and maintain laboratory equipment.
• Accurately record results and prepare laboratory/field reports.
• Ensure all testing follows approved procedures and applicable standards.

Key Requirements

• OND/HND/BSc in Civil Engineering, Geology, Building Technology, Materials Engineering, or a related field.
• Practical experience in soil, concrete, asphalt, aggregate, and construction material testing.
• Knowledge of relevant testing procedures and standards.
• Ability to operate laboratory and field-testing equipment.
• Good documentation and reporting skills.
• Willingness to work both in the laboratory and on construction sites.
