Job Description

Two full-time vacancies, two part-time vacancies

Reporting to the Head of Department – Health Sciences the position holder will be responsible for the following, amongst others:

Qualifications Requirements

● PhD/Doctorate in Nursing /Medical-Surgical Nursing/ General Nursing/Pediatric Nursing/Community Health/ Public Health or equivalent degree qualification in a
relevant area from a recognised/ accredited university.
● Master of Science in Nursing /Medical-Surgical Nursing/ General Nursing/Pediatric Nursing/Community Health/ Public Health degree or a related area from a recognised/accredited university.
● Bachelor of Science in Nursing /Medical-Surgical Nursing/ General Nursing/Pediatric Nursing/Community Health/ Public Health degree or a relevant field from a recognised/accredited University.
● At least three years of teaching/research experience at the University level as a Lecturer/Research Fellow.
● A minimum of twenty-four (24) equivalent publication points as a Lecturer/Senior Research Fellow of which sixteen (16) should be from refereed journal articles.
● Attended and contributed at academic conferences, seminars and workshops.
● Evidence of being a member of a relevant professional body.

Duties and Responsibilities of Teaching Faculty

● To teach in areas allocated by the Head of Department.
● Design, develop, plan and deliver a range of programmes of study, sometimes for entirely new courses at various levels.
● Deliver high-quality lectures and practicals.
● Oversee clinical practice, providing students with real-world learning experiences and guidelines in hospitals or clinical settings.
● Review course content and materials on a regular basis, updating when required.
● Collaborate with academic colleagues on course development, curriculum changes and the development of research activities.
● Carry out research and write research grant proposals.
● Seek and participate in consultancies.
● Present research papers at national or international conferences and other similar events.
● Dissemination of research outputs.
● Provide mentorship and career guidance to students and staff.
● Ensure all academic activities align with the standards of the Nursing Council of Kenya
● Any other duties as may be assigned from time to time by the supervisors or as captured in your detailed job description;
