Job Description
A licensed financial services institution is seeking a seasoned Accountant to take full ownership of its accounting and financial reporting function. This role sits at the core of the institution’s control, compliance, and reporting framework and requires a confident professional capable of independently managing the books and delivering accurate, timely financial reports directly to the Managing Director. This is a leadership-focused accounting role, not a support position.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare and present monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements
- Maintain accurate general ledger entries and complete accounting records
- Oversee statutory remittances including PAYE, VAT, WHT, and pension contributions
- Ensure full compliance with CBN and other regulatory reporting requirements
- Perform regular bank, ledger, and balance sheet reconciliations
- Coordinate and manage internal and external audit processes
- Enforce accounting policies, financial controls, and reporting standards
- Provide clear financial insights, analysis, and reports to the Managing Director
Requirements
Interested candidates should meet the following criteria:
- BSc or HND in Accounting or Finance
- 3–6 years of accounting experience within a microfinance bank, asset finance company, or financial institution
- Proven experience in financial reporting, statutory compliance, and regulatory submissions
- Strong proficiency in Sage Accounting Software (mandatory)
- Working knowledge of BankOne core banking system is an added advantage
- High level of integrity, accuracy, and attention to detail
Professional Certifications
- ICAN (ACA) at professional level, newly chartered or post-qualified
- ACCA certification is an added advantage
