Job Description

BGI Resources Limited is recruiting an experienced Analytical Chemist to join a well-established laboratory based in Port Harcourt. The ideal candidate must have strong expertise in environmental sample analysis, laboratory instrumentation, and field-based environmental activities. A leadership background in a scientific setting and knowledge of standard analytical procedures are essential for this role.

Responsibilities:

• Oversee and conduct environmental field activities, including sampling and analysis.
• Calibrate laboratory equipment and handheld meters as required.
• Provide technical guidance to laboratory staff and ensure compliance with relevant regulations.
• Operate core laboratory instruments such as GCMS, GC-FID, ICP, AAS, Infracal, etc.
• Maintain up-to-date knowledge of laboratory technology and safety protocols.
• Support and participate in Health, Safety, and Environmental (HSE) initiatives.

Requirements:

• MSc in Chemistry, Analytical Chemistry, Environmental Microbiology, or Science Laboratory Technology.
• Minimum of 5 years of relevant experience in a management-level laboratory position.
• Strong interpersonal and written communication skills.
• Proficient in computer use and reporting tools.
• Knowledge of standard analytical methods and environmental sample processing.
• Professional certifications are an added advantage.
• Ability to work under pressure, with creativity and resourcefulness.
