Job Description

An established FMCG distributor is seeking an experienced Area Sales Manager to oversee sales operations across designated territories. The role focuses on driving revenue growth, expanding market coverage, strengthening distributor and retail networks, and leading high-performing sales teams. Candidates must have strong FMCG experience and a proven record of delivering sales results.

Key Responsibilities
Sales and Revenue Performance

  • Achieve monthly, quarterly, and annual sales targets across assigned product categories.
  • Develop and implement effective sales plans, route-to-market strategies, and market penetration initiatives.
  • Track sales performance and drive activities that increase product visibility, volume, and distribution.

Territory and Market Management

  • Expand distribution networks and ensure availability of products across multiple retail channels.
  • Conduct routine market visits to identify growth opportunities, competitor trends, and retail performance gaps.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with distributors, wholesalers, and key retailers.

Team Leadership and Development

  • Supervise, coach, and motivate Sales Representatives, Van Sales Executives, and Merchandisers.
  • Set performance targets, provide regular feedback, and support skill development.
  • Facilitate continuous sales and product training for team members.

Key Account Management

  • Strengthen relationships with supermarkets, modern trade outlets, and major distributors.
  • Negotiate pricing, promotional activities, and visibility agreements to maximize sales potential.

Reporting and Compliance

  • Prepare weekly and monthly reports, including competitor analysis and market intelligence.
  • Ensure full compliance with company sales policies, credit control procedures, and operational standards.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Business Administration, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 5 years FMCG sales experience.
  • Strong communication, leadership, and negotiation skills.
  • Proven track record of meeting sales targets and improving territory performance.
  • Solid understanding of distribution management, trade marketing, and route-to-market execution.
  • Willingness to travel extensively within the assigned territory.
