Job Description
A consulting organization is seeking a skilled Carbon Border Adjustment Mechanism (CBAM) Officer to oversee compliance with the European Union Carbon Border Adjustment Mechanism regulations. The role focuses on carbon emissions reporting, regulatory compliance, and coordination across internal teams to ensure seamless export activities into the EU. This position is ideal for professionals with strong expertise in CBAM, carbon accounting, ESG reporting, and EU regulatory environments.
Key Responsibilities
- Interpret, implement, and monitor EU Carbon Border Adjustment Mechanism legislation and regulatory updates
- Develop, manage, and continuously improve CBAM compliance frameworks, policies, and internal controls
- Prepare, review, and submit CBAM declarations, certificates, and carbon cost calculations in line with EU requirements
- Coordinate the collection and validation of carbon emissions data from production and operational teams
- Oversee emissions calculations using approved CBAM methodologies and ensure reporting accuracy
- Manage CBAM compliance for all export activities into the European Union
- Act as the primary point of contact with EU regulators, auditors, and verification bodies
- Collaborate with sustainability, finance, legal, operations, and supply chain teams on CBAM-related matters
- Deliver CBAM awareness sessions and training for internal stakeholders
Requirements & Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Science, Engineering, Sustainability, Economics, or a related field
- Professional certifications in Sustainability, Environmental Management, CSR, ISO 14001, or Compliance are an added advantage
- Strong understanding of the Carbon Border Adjustment Mechanism, environmental regulations, and ESG frameworks
- Proven experience in carbon accounting, emissions management, and ESG reporting
- Practical exposure to EU export compliance and international trade regulations
- T24 administration experience
- JBoss programming experience
- Java skills are an added advantage for system integration and automation
- Excellent analytical, documentation, reporting, and regulatory interpretation skills
- Strong organizational, problem-solving, and stakeholder management abilities
- High attention to detail and professional integrity
