Job Description

Dangote is seeking an experienced Chief Engineer to lead the operation and maintenance of a 6000 TCD milling section. This role is critical to achieving optimal milling performance, operational reliability, and targeted crushing efficiency while ensuring strict compliance with safety standards, design parameters, and standard operating procedures.

Key Responsibilities

  • Oversee daily operations and maintenance of the milling plant to ensure smooth and continuous production
  • Monitor and optimize milling efficiency, bagasse moisture levels, extraction percentage, and other key performance indicators
  • Plan and implement preventive and predictive maintenance programs to minimize downtime
  • Ensure timely repair, replacement, and availability of critical mill components and spares
  • Enforce discipline, performance standards, and safety compliance among operating and maintenance teams
  • Coordinate with electrical, instrumentation, boiler, process, and quality control teams for seamless operations
  • Maintain accurate operational records, logbooks, downtime reports, and maintenance documentation
  • Provide technical leadership, on-the-job training, and performance improvement support to subordinates
  • Support annual overhauls, plant upgrades, and capacity enhancement projects

Requirements and Qualifications

  • B.Tech, BE, or BSc in Mechanical Engineering
  • COREN, NSE, or any related professional certification
  • 8–12 years of experience in mill operation and maintenance within the sugar industry or a similar process industry
  • Strong communication and people management skills
  • Proven ability in conflict resolution, project management, and negotiation
  • Effective presentation and technical reporting skills
