Job Description
A fast-growing renewable energy company focused on developing, financing, and owning solar infrastructure projects across Nigeria and Sub-Saharan Africa is seeking an experienced Chief Financial Officer. The organization works with commercial and industrial clients, government institutions, and distribution companies, with a long-term vision of expanding into over 17 African markets. This role is critical to driving capital strategy, securing funding, and building a financially sustainable platform.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead capital raising efforts, including debt financing and investor funding initiatives
- Manage engagements with Development Finance Institutions (DFIs) and negotiate financing terms
- Build and oversee financial models, investment structures, and capital strategies
- Drive Series A fundraising, including investor presentations and due diligence processes
- Structure Special Purpose Vehicles (SPVs) and ensure bankability of projects
- Identify and secure grant funding opportunities and manage compliance requirements
- Oversee financial reporting, budgeting, payroll, tax compliance, and audits
- Establish strong financial systems, controls, and reporting frameworks
Job Requirements
- Minimum of 10 years’ experience in infrastructure, project finance, or development finance
- Proven track record in capital raising on the borrower or developer side
- Prior experience as CFO or Finance Director is preferred
- Strong experience with DFI-funded energy or infrastructure projects in Africa
- In-depth knowledge of Nigerian financial regulations (FIRS, CBN, PENCOM, CAC)
- Advanced expertise in financial modelling, project finance, and SPV structuring
Non-Negotiable Criteria
- Demonstrated experience leading at least one DFI debt raise end-to-end
- Relevant professional certification such as CFA, ACCA, ACA, or ICAN
- Proven ability to build and defend lender-grade financial models
- Experience securing grant funding and writing successful applications
- Ability to independently present to credit committees or investors
Compensation and Benefits
- Base Salary: N1,500,000 per month
- Profit Share: 1.5% of quarterly net profit (post-tax)
