Job Description
Canonical Nigeria is seeking a Cloud Support Engineer to provide expert technical support for customers using Ubuntu and other open-source solutions. This role is ideal for candidates with a strong affinity for Linux systems, cloud technologies, and problem-solving in complex environments. The position offers exposure to advanced cloud infrastructure, containers, networking, and enterprise-level support challenges.
Key Responsibilities
- Investigate and troubleshoot customer-reported issues, escalating when necessary.
- Resolve complex problems related to Canonical’s portfolio of products, ensuring customer satisfaction.
- Communicate directly with customers via phone, ticketing systems, and remote sessions.
- Contribute to knowledge base articles and maintain shared documentation for continuous learning.
- Participate in a regular weekend working rotation and support Ubuntu deployment timelines.
Requirements
- Excellent written and spoken English with strong presentation skills.
- Undergraduate degree in a technical field or demonstrable experience in a related path.
- Hands-on experience supporting Linux systems with expertise in at least three of the following:
- Virtualization/Cloud (KVM, OpenStack)
- Containers (Docker, LXD/LXC, Kubernetes)
- Storage technologies (block, object, network)
- Networking (firewalls, bonding, bridging, file system tuning, MTU issues)
- Cloud computing (provisioning, monitoring, orchestration)
- Advanced troubleshooting skills for OS and application-level issues.
- Programming fundamentals in any language.
- Strong customer support experience, with professional, clear, and empathetic communication.
- Willingness to travel internationally up to twice a year for company events.
