Job Description
DET Consulting Limited is seeking a skilled Database Management Officer to manage, maintain, and optimize database systems that support business operations and critical applications. This role is suited for a detail-oriented professional with strong technical expertise in database administration, SQL, and data integration, capable of ensuring data integrity, security, and high system performance.
Key Responsibilities
- Administer, maintain, and optimize database systems to ensure availability, reliability, and performance
- Monitor database performance, carry out tuning, and resolve database-related issues efficiently
- Implement and manage data backup, recovery, and disaster recovery processes
- Write, execute, and optimize SQL queries for data management, reporting, and troubleshooting
- Support data integration across systems, including API-based connections
- Enforce database security standards, access controls, and compliance requirements
- Document database procedures, incidents, and resolutions accurately
- Collaborate with IT, operations, and business teams to meet database and reporting needs
- Support audits, data quality checks, and database upgrades
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field
- Proven experience working as a Database Management Officer or in a similar database administration role
- Strong knowledge of database management systems such as MySQL, SQL Server, Oracle, or PostgreSQL
- High proficiency in SQL for data manipulation, reporting, and troubleshooting
- Experience with database performance monitoring and optimization tools
- Solid understanding of data integration techniques, APIs, backup, recovery, and security best practices
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and documentation skills
- Ability to work independently and collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams
