Job Description
Tokiye Integrated Medical Services is seeking an experienced Design Manager to lead and coordinate all design activities on large-scale construction or EPC projects. This role is responsible for ensuring that all design deliverables meet contractual, technical, statutory, and HSE requirements, while maintaining the highest standards of professional and technical documentation. The position requires strong leadership, deep technical expertise, and extensive experience managing multi-disciplinary design teams on complex engineering projects.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead, manage, and coordinate all project design activities across civil, structural, mechanical, electrical, instrumentation, architectural, and specialist engineering disciplines
- Develop and implement design management plans, procedures, and governance frameworks in line with project and regulatory requirements
- Ensure full compliance of designs with contract specifications, industry standards, statutory regulations, and client requirements
- Oversee constructability reviews to confirm designs are practical and executable
- Ensure accurate preparation, updating, and submission of all As-Built drawings in line with project requirements
- Manage the production of technical documentation including design reports, calculations, datasheets, change requests, and verification records
- Maintain a structured document control system for design records, revisions, approvals, and issue tracking
- Lead and mentor multi-disciplinary design teams, conduct design reviews, and coordinate meetings across disciplines
- Coordinate with construction, procurement, QA/QC, HSE, and project controls teams to ensure design alignment during execution
- Implement quality assurance and control processes for all design deliverables
- Manage design budgets, schedules, resources, and design-related risks
- Serve as the primary technical liaison with clients, consultants, contractors, and regulators on all design-related matters
- Prepare and submit technical reports, progress updates, dashboards, and performance metrics
Requirements and Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Architecture, or a related discipline; a Master’s degree is an added advantage
- Professional registration or chartered status (e.g., COREN, P.Eng, RIBA, or equivalent) is highly desirable
- Minimum of 20 years’ experience in design management on large-scale construction or EPC projects
- Proven experience managing multi-disciplinary design teams and overseeing As-Built drawings and technical documentation
- Strong track record of delivering complex projects on time, within budget, and to required quality standards
- Proficiency in design software, BIM, CAD tools, and project management platforms
- Excellent command of professional and technical English for reporting, documentation, and client communication
- Strong leadership, coordination, analytical, and problem-solving skills
- Ability to perform effectively in fast-paced and high-pressure project environments
