Job Description

A Digital Journalist position is open within a leading education transformation initiative. The role focuses on storytelling, digital engagement, and amplifying the impact of government-led education programmes. The journalist will capture stories from classrooms and communities, transform them into engaging digital content, and ensure visibility across platforms. The mission is to make education transformation stories resonate locally, nationally, and globally.

Responsibilities

  • Capture authentic stories through fieldwork, including photography, video, and interviews with students, teachers, parents, and community leaders.
  • Develop and manage digital content calendars while executing campaigns across platforms such as WhatsApp, Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, LinkedIn, and TikTok.
  • Track and analyze engagement metrics, adapting strategy to maximize reach, virality, and audience connection.
  • Collaborate with programme leaders to identify strategic story opportunities and align messaging with programme milestones.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Journalism, Digital Media, Marketing, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 2 years’ experience in content creation, social media management, and digital storytelling, preferably within education, social impact, or public service.
  • Proficiency with content design and editing tools (e.g., Canva, Adobe Creative Suite, Final Cut Pro, or Adobe Premiere).
  • Strong communication and organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines.
  • Experience using WhatsApp and social media for community engagement and stakeholder communication.
