Financial Controller at Prosperity Microfinance Bank
Job Description
A Financial Controller is needed to oversee financial operations, reporting, and compliance within a microfinance banking environment. This role is critical in ensuring financial accuracy, regulatory compliance, and supporting strategic decision-making at the executive level. The position reports directly to the Managing Director and plays a key role in maintaining the financial integrity of the institution.
Location: Ugbowor, Benin – Edo
Employment Type: Full-time
Salary: N350,000 – N400,000 / month
Responsibilities
- Oversee financial management processes, including general ledger maintenance and preparation of accurate financial statements
- Perform detailed bank reconciliations, ensuring all transactions are properly recorded and discrepancies resolved promptly
- Prepare and submit regulatory returns in compliance with Central Bank of Nigeria guidelines and other statutory requirements
- Manage and optimize the use of BankOne core banking software for financial reporting and data integrity
- Establish and enforce strong internal controls to safeguard assets and prevent fraud
- Coordinate internal and external audits, ensuring timely documentation and implementation of audit recommendations
- Supervise and guide the finance and accounts team to maintain high performance and best practices
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field
- Professional certification such as ICAN, ACCA, or equivalent is required
- Proven experience in a similar role within a microfinance bank or financial institution
- Strong knowledge of regulatory reporting standards and compliance requirements
- Hands-on experience with BankOne core banking software
- Excellent analytical skills, attention to detail, and ability to meet tight deadlines
