Job Description

This role leads the companywide finance function, covering financial management, treasury, accounting, budgeting, payroll, fundraising support, and financial reporting. The Head, Accounts & Finance is expected to proactively identify financial risks and opportunities, support strategic planning and forecasting, and ensure accurate, timely reporting to drive performance and long-term sustainability. This is a senior leadership role with responsibility for strengthening financial controls and building a robust finance function.

Responsibilities

  • Take full responsibility for the production of monthly management accounts
  • Review and approve reconciliations and schedules, including bank statements, accrued charges, and prepayments
  • Prepare monthly budgetary control reports and performance analysis
  • Prepare the overall annual budget, including assumptions and financial ratios
  • Perform financial control functions, treasury management, and cash flow monitoring
  • Follow up on budget implementation across departments and investigate variances between budget and actuals
  • Prepare budgets, financial plans, and forecasts
  • Assist in the preparation and review of monthly and quarterly reports for the Board, Shareholders, and Regulatory bodies
  • Prepare, vet, and implement staff payroll
  • Develop and manage liquidity management tools
  • Conduct periodic finance audits and recommend improvements
  • Develop financial policies and procedures to improve operational efficiency
  • Develop and maintain financial statements for future reference
  • Monitor and manage expenses within the approved budget
  • Implement a structured and robust finance department
  • Work with external auditors on regular audits of accounts
  • Perform any other duties as assigned by the CFO, HOO, and GMD

Requirements

  • Proven senior-level experience in accounting, finance, or financial management
  • Strong knowledge of budgeting, financial reporting, treasury management, and performance analysis
  • Experience with preparing management accounts and working with external auditors
  • Strong analytical, leadership, and stakeholder management skills
  • High level of integrity and attention to detail
  • Ability to support strategic planning, forecasting, and financial sustainability initiatives
