Job Description
A reputable Microfinance Bank in Ikeja, Lagos is seeking an experienced and strategic professional to fill the role of Head of Audit. This position plays a critical role in strengthening internal controls, ensuring regulatory compliance, and providing independent assurance on risk management and governance processes. The ideal candidate must possess strong leadership capacity, technical expertise, and a deep understanding of the financial services sector.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and execute a risk-based annual internal audit plan aligned with the bank’s strategic objectives.
- Conduct periodic audits of credit operations, loan portfolio quality, treasury, finance, IT systems, and branch activities.
- Ensure full compliance with Central Bank guidelines, IFRS standards, and internal policies.
- Lead internal audit reviews, investigations, and special audit assignments where necessary.
- Identify operational, financial, and compliance risks, and recommend corrective actions.
- Present audit findings, risk insights, and recommendations to senior management and the Board Audit Committee.
- Foster a strong internal control environment and promote ethical standards across the organization.
Qualifications and Requirements
- Bachelor’s Degree in Internal Auditing, Accounting, Finance, or a related discipline.
- Professional certification such as ACA, ACCA, ICAN, or CFA is mandatory.
- Minimum of 8–10 years’ experience in finance or accounting, with at least 3–5 years in a senior leadership role.
- Experience in IT audit within the Microfinance sector is highly preferred.
- Strong knowledge of financial regulations, IFRS, and Central Bank guidelines.
- Proficiency in financial software applications and Microsoft Excel.
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, report writing, and presentation skills.
- Demonstrated integrity, professionalism, and sound judgment.
