Job Description
The Head of Finance & Accounts is responsible for overseeing financial management, reporting, and compliance across MSI Nigeria Reproductive Choices. This role supports strategic decision-making through financial planning, analysis, and risk management while ensuring strong internal controls and donor compliance. The position also works closely with leadership and cross-functional teams to drive financial sustainability and operational efficiency.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide strategic financial advice to senior management on budgeting, investments, risk, and growth opportunities
- Lead business planning, annual budgeting, and financial forecasting processes across departments
- Prepare and present accurate monthly financial reports, highlighting variances and recommending corrective actions
- Monitor and manage programme budgets, donor funds, and expenditure to ensure compliance and optimal resource use
- Conduct financial analysis to support decision-making, identify trends, and improve business performance
- Oversee debt management, including monitoring debtor aging and coordinating with relevant teams for recovery
- Ensure compliance with tax regulations, donor requirements, and organizational financial policies
- Coordinate internal and external audits and ensure timely implementation of audit recommendations
Requirements
- Master’s Degree in Finance, Accounting, or related field with a minimum of Second Class Upper
- Professional certification such as ACA or ACCA is required
- 8–12 years post-NYSC experience in finance roles within NGO/INGO or commercial sectors
- Strong knowledge of donor funding frameworks (e.g., KFW, ECHO, DFI, CIFF, GF)
- Proficiency in ERP systems, SUN Accounting, and other accounting tools
- Advanced Microsoft Excel skills and strong analytical ability
- Proven experience in financial reporting, internal controls, and compliance
- Strong organizational, leadership, and communication skills
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and handle confidential information
