Job Description
A prominent real estate and investment firm in Lagos is currently recruiting a seasoned legal expert to lead its legal and compliance division. The ideal candidate must possess deep knowledge of commercial transactions, regulatory frameworks, and corporate governance. This role is suitable for a mature and experienced professional who thrives in fast-paced environments and can provide strategic legal oversight.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead and oversee the legal and compliance function across all operations
- Provide legal advice on commercial transactions, partnerships, and contracts
- Ensure regulatory compliance with local, state, and federal laws, particularly in real estate and investment sectors
- Manage legal risks and oversee dispute resolution, including litigation
- Draft, review, and negotiate complex agreements and legal documents
- Mentor and supervise a team of legal professionals to align legal strategy with business goals
Requirements:
- Minimum of 15 years post-call experience
- Must be called to the Nigerian Bar
- Strong background in real estate law, corporate/commercial transactions, and regulatory compliance
- Demonstrated leadership experience within a legal team
- Exceptional contract drafting, negotiation, and litigation management abilities
- High level of professional maturity, confidence, and discipline
