Job Description
A highly experienced Head of Security / Aviation Security Manager is needed to lead and manage aviation and corporate security operations. This role is responsible for developing robust security frameworks, ensuring full regulatory compliance, and safeguarding people, assets, and operations in line with Nigerian and international aviation security standards.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Develop, implement, and enforce security policies, protocols, and procedures in line with regulatory requirements and industry best practices
- Supervise and coordinate all aviation and corporate security operations, including passenger and baggage screening, access control, perimeter security, and surveillance systems
- Oversee the vetting, training, certification, and continuous development of security personnel to ensure operational competence and regulatory compliance
- Liaise with NCAA, FAAN, Nigeria Police Force, Civil Defence, DSS, and other relevant security and intelligence agencies
- Conduct regular security risk assessments, vulnerability analyses, and threat evaluations across facilities and operations
- Monitor and evaluate the performance of outsourced and contracted security service providers
- Coordinate security incident response, investigations, documentation, and implementation of corrective actions
- Ensure compliance with NCAA-approved security programmes and support audits, inspections, drills, and regulatory engagements
- Maintain and update the Airport Security Programme (ASP) and Company Security Programme (CSP) in collaboration with the Accountable Manager
- Provide strategic security advice to executive management on emerging risks, threats, and policy improvements
- Prepare and submit periodic reports on security operations, incidents, and compliance status
Requirements and Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree in Criminology, Security Studies, Law Enforcement, or a related discipline
- NCAA certification in Aviation Security (AVSEC)
- Minimum of 5 years’ experience in aviation or corporate security operations
- At least 2 years’ experience in a leadership or supervisory role
- Previous exposure to airport or airline security operations
- Strong working knowledge of Nigerian Civil Aviation Regulations (Nig. CARs) and ICAO Annex 17
- Proven leadership, decision-making, and crisis management skills
- Excellent communication, reporting, and interpersonal abilities
- High level of integrity, confidentiality, and attention to detail
- Proficiency in surveillance systems, access control technologies, and incident reporting tools
- Ability to collaborate effectively with internal stakeholders and regulatory authorities
