Job Description
Northwest Petroleum & Gas Company Limited is seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Internal Auditor to join its Audit team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for conducting risk-based audits, ensuring compliance with industry standards, and promoting transparency and accountability within the organization.
Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement annual audit plans based on risk assessments and regulatory requirements.
- Conduct financial, operational, and compliance audits to assess internal controls and company policy adherence.
- Evaluate internal control systems, identify process weaknesses, and recommend risk mitigation strategies.
- Prepare and present detailed audit reports highlighting findings, risks, and actionable recommendations.
- Ensure compliance with Nigerian oil and gas regulations, including the Petroleum Industry Act (PIA).
- Investigate and prevent fraud, financial mismanagement, and policy violations.
- Collaborate with departments such as Finance, Operations, and Legal to ensure audit objectives are met.
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field.
- Professional certification such as ACA or ACCA is mandatory; CIA or CISA is an added advantage.
- 3–5 years of relevant audit experience, preferably in the oil and gas industry.
- Strong knowledge of Nigerian downstream oil and gas regulations and internal control frameworks.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and audit tools, with excellent analytical and report-writing skills.
- High ethical standards and ability to handle confidential information responsibly.
