Job Description

Northwest Petroleum & Gas Company Limited is seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Internal Auditor to join its Audit team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for conducting risk-based audits, ensuring compliance with industry standards, and promoting transparency and accountability within the organization.

Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement annual audit plans based on risk assessments and regulatory requirements.
  • Conduct financial, operational, and compliance audits to assess internal controls and company policy adherence.
  • Evaluate internal control systems, identify process weaknesses, and recommend risk mitigation strategies.
  • Prepare and present detailed audit reports highlighting findings, risks, and actionable recommendations.
  • Ensure compliance with Nigerian oil and gas regulations, including the Petroleum Industry Act (PIA).
  • Investigate and prevent fraud, financial mismanagement, and policy violations.
  • Collaborate with departments such as Finance, Operations, and Legal to ensure audit objectives are met.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field.
  • Professional certification such as ACA or ACCA is mandatory; CIA or CISA is an added advantage.
  • 3–5 years of relevant audit experience, preferably in the oil and gas industry.
  • Strong knowledge of Nigerian downstream oil and gas regulations and internal control frameworks.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and audit tools, with excellent analytical and report-writing skills.
  • High ethical standards and ability to handle confidential information responsibly.
