- Troubleshoot complex IP and routing issues, including BGP, OSPF, MPLS, L2/L3 VPNs, and QoS.
- Manage Internet Gateway (IGW) and core transit networks, including traffic engineering and route policy optimization.
- Execute planned network activities such as software upgrades, configuration audits, hardware acceptance tests, and optimization projects.
- Collaborate with field teams, vendors, and engineering units for incident resolution, capacity planning, and new network implementations.
- Analyze network traffic patterns to identify anomalies, bottlenecks, and security threats.
- Generate reports on network performance, SLAs, and incident metrics, escalating critical issues as required.
- Participate in 24/7 on-call rotations, ensuring minimal downtime and rapid incident resolution.
Requirements:
- HND (Upper Credit) or Bachelor’s Degree (Second Class Upper) in Computer Science, IT, Electrical/Electronics Engineering, or related field, or equivalent practical experience.
- 3–5 years of experience in IP core network operations, preferably in ISP or telecom NOC environments.
- Hands-on experience with IP routing protocols: BGP, OSPF, ISIS, MPLS, L2VPN, L3VPN, and QoS/traffic engineering.
- Practical knowledge of Cisco or equivalent IP routers and switches, including vendor-specific CLI and tools.
- Strong understanding of TCP/IP, subnetting, ACLs, NAT, and core IP network design principles.
- Experience with NOC monitoring tools (e.g., SolarWinds, PRTG) and ticketing/incident management systems.
- Ability to work under pressure, manage multiple priorities, and communicate technical issues clearly.
- Willingness to work in a 24/7 shift-based NOC environment, including nights and weekends.
Preferred Skills:
- Knowledge of DWDM, microwave backhaul, firewalls, IDS/IPS, SDN/NFV, IPv6 migration, and DDoS mitigation.
- Professional certifications such as CCNP, CCIE, JNCIP, or JNCIE are highly desirable.
