Job Description

A reputable organisation in the chemical industry is seeking a detail-oriented Lab Analyst to support quality assurance and production processes through accurate chemical testing and strict adherence to safety and regulatory standards. This role suits professionals with strong analytical skills and hands-on laboratory experience.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct qualitative and quantitative chemical analyses of raw materials, in-process samples, and finished products.
  • Operate, calibrate, and maintain laboratory equipment including spectrophotometers, chromatographs, and related instruments.
  • Prepare chemical solutions and reagents according to defined formulas and laboratory protocols.
  • Analyse test data and prepare accurate reports in line with industry standards and internal procedures.
  • Support the development and implementation of new testing procedures and methodologies.
  • Ensure compliance with health, safety, and environmental regulations within the laboratory.
  • Maintain accurate laboratory records including test results, calibration logs, and inventory of consumables.
  • Collaborate with production and quality teams to support product quality and compliance.
  • Participate in laboratory audits and inspections in line with regulatory and best-practice requirements.

Requirements / Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Chemistry or Industrial Chemistry.
  • Minimum of 4 years’ experience in a laboratory environment, preferably within chemical manufacturing or lubricant production.
  • Proficiency in laboratory instruments such as HPLC, GC, and UV-Vis Spectroscopy.
  • Strong understanding of laboratory safety standards and chemical handling procedures.
  • Good knowledge of laboratory best practices, SOPs, and ISO guidelines.
  • Excellent analytical and data interpretation skills.
  • Strong attention to detail, documentation, and record-keeping skills.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team.
  • Good written and verbal communication skills, including the use of ERP systems.
  • Familiarity with Laboratory Information Management Systems (LIMS) is an added advantage.
  • Willingness to work in shifts when required.
  • Commitment to continuous learning and professional development.
