Job Description

Owens and Xley Consults is seeking a highly skilled Lead Architect to oversee architectural design, coordination, and site execution for complex construction projects in Lagos. The role requires strong technical expertise, extensive site experience, and the ability to deliver high-quality built outcomes while collaborating with multidisciplinary teams.

Responsibilities

  • Lead architectural design development from concept through construction completion.
  • Prepare, review, and coordinate architectural drawings, specifications, and design documentation.
  • Ensure compliance with statutory requirements, building codes, and client specifications.
  • Provide technical guidance during construction and conduct regular site inspections.
  • Coordinate with engineers, consultants, contractors, and project managers for seamless project execution.
  • Review shop drawings, material submissions, and mock-ups to ensure design intent is maintained.
  • Resolve design issues on site and issue clarifications when necessary.
  • Support value engineering, cost optimization, and constructability reviews.
  • Prepare progress reports and contribute to project meetings and technical reviews.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 5 years’ post-qualification experience in architectural design and construction.
  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Architecture.
  • Full professional registration and relevant certification (e.g., NIA, ARCON or equivalent).
  • Strong site-based experience on large-scale building and/or infrastructure projects.
  • Proven experience working within multidisciplinary construction teams.
  • Excellent knowledge of building codes, regulations, and construction methodologies.
  • Proficiency in architectural software (AutoCAD, Revit, SketchUp, etc.).
  • Strong leadership, coordination, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and work under tight deadlines.
