Job Description

Cardinal Torch Company Limited is hiring a Legal & Compliance Officer to support its legal and regulatory functions. The ideal candidate must possess solid experience in corporate/commercial legal practice and regulatory compliance, preferably within banking, finance, or commodities sectors. This role involves legal advisory, contract management, corporate governance, and compliance monitoring under the supervision of the Company Secretary/Head, Legal and Compliance.

Key Responsibilities:

• Provide legal opinions on operational, contractual, and regulatory issues.
• Draft and review legal agreements using approved templates.
• Maintain contract and litigation registers, track deadlines, and support external counsel.
• Monitor and ensure compliance with statutory filings, regulatory obligations, and licence renewals.
• Conduct due diligence for client onboarding and regulatory engagement.

Qualifications and Requirements:

• LL.B from a recognised university and Call to the Nigerian Bar (BL)
• Minimum of 4 years’ post-call experience in legal or compliance roles
• Strong legal drafting, analytical, and communication skills
• Familiarity with Nigerian corporate law, compliance frameworks, and governance standards
• Additional certification in compliance, risk, or governance is an added advantage
