Job Description

The Managing Director role at NewGlobe is a senior leadership position responsible for the overall management, strategic direction, and delivery of a large-scale education programme. This role focuses on driving sustainable impact in public education through strong stakeholder engagement, operational excellence, and hands-on programme leadership. The position requires deep experience managing complex programmes, particularly within government-facing and education-focused environments.

Responsibilities

  • Provide overall leadership and act as the senior General Manager for the programme, overseeing strategy, budgets, operations, and stakeholder relationships.
  • Lead and manage multidisciplinary programme teams, ensuring effective coordination, supervision, and resource utilization to achieve programme objectives.
  • Serve as the primary liaison with the Ministry of Education, State Universal Basic Education Board (SUBEB), and other government stakeholders, ensuring alignment with agreed objectives.
  • Oversee the design, delivery, and day-to-day management of a high-quality, innovative, cost-effective, and sustainable education programme.
  • Ensure technical quality, methodological soundness, and responsiveness of programme activities, adjusting operations as required.
  • Identify implementation risks and challenges early, proposing and executing appropriate mitigation strategies.
  • Ensure delivery of programme outcomes on or under budget while maintaining high operational standards.
  • Foster a collaborative and learning-focused environment across programme teams and functional leaders.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree is required; an MBA or relevant Master’s degree is preferred.
  • Minimum of 10 years’ progressive experience in project or programme management within developing countries.
  • At least 5 years’ experience in senior management roles, including direct supervision of professional and support staff.
  • Proven experience leading large, complex programmes with lean teams in fast-paced environments.
  • Strong background in operational leadership, system design, process improvement, and performance management.
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively with government officials, donors, private sector partners, and community stakeholders.
  • Excellent leadership, communication, writing, and cross-cultural interpersonal skills.
  • Experience building government or Ministry of Education capacity to deliver education strategies is an added advantage.
