Job Description

A reputable film manufacturing company in Ibadan is seeking a skilled Mechanical Engineer to manage mechanical and utility operations during assigned shifts. This role is suited to professionals with hands-on experience in continuous process manufacturing environments, particularly film production, who can ensure smooth operations, equipment reliability, and compliance with safety standards.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage end-to-end mechanical and utility operations during assigned shifts
  • Ensure uninterrupted operation of Blown Film, Printing, Slitting, and utility-related mechanical systems
  • Carry out maintenance of blown film lines, extrusion systems, winding machines, and auxiliary equipment
  • Plan and execute preventive and breakdown maintenance to reduce downtime and improve reliability
  • Oversee building maintenance, utilities, and safety equipment
  • Support troubleshooting, root cause analysis, and continuous improvement initiatives
  • Participate in energy optimization and efficiency improvement programs
  • Ensure compliance with statutory requirements, safety standards, and regulatory guidelines
  • Collaborate with team members to improve technical competence and operational productivity

Requirements and Qualifications

  • Degree or Diploma in Mechanical Engineering or Production Engineering
  • Minimum of 3 years’ experience in an industrial mechanical engineering role
  • Prior experience in a film manufacturing plant or continuous process industry is an advantage
  • Strong hands-on experience with mechanical and utility systems
  • Familiarity with film manufacturing machinery, automation, and production processes
  • Knowledge of preventive maintenance practices, energy management, and safety standards
  • Ability to work effectively in a shift-based operational environment
