Job Description

Essence Crop Science Nigeria Limited is seeking a skilled Mechanical Maintenance Technician to support the efficient operation of mechanical equipment within its facility. This role focuses on equipment installation, routine and preventive maintenance, fault diagnosis, and stainless steel pipe welding to minimize downtime and ensure optimal performance.

Key Responsibilities

• Install and commission mechanical equipment in line with manuals, technical drawings, and specifications to ensure proper functionality.
• Carry out routine maintenance activities including inspections, lubrication, cleaning, adjustments, and replacement of worn or damaged parts.
• Diagnose mechanical faults, identify root causes, and perform timely repairs to restore equipment operation.
• Develop and implement preventive maintenance plans aimed at reducing equipment failures and unplanned downtime.
• Perform stainless steel pipe welding for equipment installation, modification, and repairs, including cutting, fitting, and welding of pipes, elbows, and flanges.
• Use TIG welding as the primary method, with SMAW applied where required.

Requirements

• SSCE, OND, or HND qualification in a relevant technical or engineering discipline.
• 5–8 years of hands-on experience as a Mechanical Maintenance Technician or in a similar role.
• Proven experience in mechanical equipment maintenance within an industrial or manufacturing environment.
• Strong practical skills in stainless steel pipe welding, particularly TIG welding.
• Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and equipment manuals.
