Job Description

The Regional Marketing and Communications Advisor (RMCA) will support community mobilization, advocacy, youth engagement, and corporate visibility initiatives across the region. The role works closely with regional and national teams to strengthen partnerships, drive demand generation for sexual and reproductive health services, and position MSI Nigeria Reproductive Choices as a thought leader within the SRH space.

Responsibilities
Coordinate community mobilization activities and strengthen accountability

  • Initiate and provide a support system for effective and efficient community mobilization.
  • Supervise and support SBCC Officers within the region to conduct effective mobilization.
  • Facilitate and ensure proper community entry activities are conducted by mobilisers.
  • Ensure standard and timely delivery of mobilization activities in line with MSI Nigeria indicators.
  • Lead training for mobilisers and community-level volunteers on MSI Nigeria thematic areas.
  • Conduct on-the-spot checks of mobilization activities in implementation communities.
  • Support Human Centred Design (HCD) and other innovative demand generation and marketing activities.
  • Support the development and implementation of annual and quarterly work plans for mobilisers.
  • Support marketing and mobilization training during onboarding of clinical providers.
  • Support equitable distribution of marketing and communication materials across the region.

Lead content development for communications and documentation

  • Identify, develop, document, and report high-impact success stories and communication content, including newsletter stories, blog content, social media content, and action photographs.
  • Lead content generation and documentation of communication materials for various uses.
  • Identify and facilitate dissemination of content on strategic social media platforms with strong youth and Women of Reproductive Age (WRA) audiences to increase visibility and referrals.

Advocacy, external relations, communication, and representation

  • Lead the formation of effective partnerships to increase collaboration and recognition within the development arena.
  • Ensure visibility and raise the profile of MSI Nigeria among key stakeholders, donors, and partners.
  • Represent MSI Nigeria in regional and state-level SRH technical working group meetings and maintain professional relationships with target institutions.
  • Create opportunities to highlight policy messages and technical expertise through media channels and special events in collaboration with regional, communications, and clinical teams.
  • Monitor and report relevant state and regional health and development policy developments.
  • Build relationships with policymakers and partners to influence policy change.
  • Identify key policy and advocacy issues affecting SRH interventions and report quarterly.
  • Conduct quarterly socio-political analysis to advise management on community experiences shaped by culture, politics, and religion.
  • Engage with critical stakeholders in the SRH industry to position MSI Nigeria as a family planning and SRH thought leader.

Reporting, monitoring, and evaluation

  • Track and report advocacy and mobilization engagements within the region.
  • Test advocacy and communication materials with the RM&E unit prior to deployment.
  • Prepare and submit monthly technical, progress, and program monitoring reports in line with schedules and guidelines.
  • Use routine data from CliC and the Marketing Activities Reporting (MAR) template to target demand generation and client reach.

Other duties

  • Carry out additional duties as reasonably requested by line management.
  • Travel within and outside the country as required.

Requirements

  • BSc/BA in Communications, Arts, Marketing, or a related field; MA/MSc is an added advantage.
  • Proven ability to set priorities, multitask, and collaborate across technical disciplines.
  • Strong interpersonal, written, and oral communication skills with professional credibility.
  • Strong results orientation with the ability to challenge existing mindsets and propose solutions.
  • Excellent spoken and written English.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and database tools.
  • Technical experience in advocacy, demand creation/marketing, social marketing, reproductive health, maternal health, HIV, or child health.
  • Relevant experience in a similar role.
  • Strong representation and presentation skills.
  • Experience planning advocacy campaigns and implementing SBCC and community-level communication activities.
  • Demonstrated ability to coordinate with government stakeholders, manage expectations, and build capacity.
