Salary: NGN 500,000 – 700,000

A fast-growing team behind the AI-powered SaaS platform, VECAPP, is looking to hire a Senior Backend Engineer. This role focuses on building and maintaining scalable backend infrastructure and RESTful APIs, optimizing databases, and contributing to the design and performance of a multi-tenant platform. The ideal candidate will have deep experience in backend systems, a strong understanding of scalable architecture, and a passion for clean, maintainable code.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and maintain backend systems using Node.js (TypeScript/JavaScript)
  • Design and implement RESTful APIs and microservices for a multi-tenant platform
  • Optimize performance and architecture of databases including PostgreSQL and MongoDB
  • Integrate message queuing systems such as AWS SQS/SNS for asynchronous processing
  • Lead backend architecture discussions and mentor junior engineers

Requirements:

  • Minimum of 5 years experience in backend development
  • Strong proficiency in Node.js, TypeScript, and frameworks such as NestJS or Express
  • Solid understanding of OOP, design patterns, and building scalable systems
  • Experience with SQL and NoSQL databases, and hands-on database optimization
  • Familiarity with AWS services, messaging systems, and CI/CD pipelines
  • Prior experience with containerized environments (e.g., Docker) is a plus
  • Strong documentation, testing practices, and commitment to code quality
