Job Description

MLabs is hiring a Senior Backend Engineer to support the development of scalable backend systems powering multi-chain DeFi infrastructure. This role focuses on building secure, high-performance APIs that enable seamless access to on-chain liquidity across major blockchains for financial institutions and fintech companies.

Location: Nigeria (Remote)
Salary: €90,000 – €130,000 per year
Experience Level: Senior / Lead

Current Tech Stack

  • Node.js with TypeScript (Dockerized environment)
  • MongoDB and Redis
  • ethers.js for blockchain integrations
  • GitHub, Kubernetes, AWS, and Cloudflare (GitOps CI/CD chain)

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the architecture, design, and development of scalable backend systems and APIs
  • Maintain high coding standards through structured code reviews and best practices
  • Optimize system performance by identifying bottlenecks and improving algorithms
  • Implement monitoring tools, debugging systems, and comprehensive test suites (unit, integration, and E2E)
  • Provide mentorship and technical guidance to junior developers
  • Analyze complex technical challenges and deliver reliable, production-ready solutions

Requirements

  • Must be based in the EMEA region
  • Strong professional experience with TypeScript and Node.js
  • Proven production experience working with the Stellar network
  • Solid understanding of the EVM ecosystem or other blockchain environments (plus)
  • Extensive experience in a senior or lead-level backend engineering role
  • Strong knowledge of MongoDB, Redis, caching systems, and distributed system architecture
  • Hands-on experience with testing frameworks and quality assurance practices
  • Excellent written and verbal English communication skills
  • Ability to work independently in a remote-first environment
  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science (preferred)
  • Experience with Stellar Soroban smart contracts (bonus)
