Job Description

A reputable Oil & Gas company is seeking an experienced Senior Structural Engineer to provide high-level structural engineering support across tenders and offshore projects. The role focuses on delivering safe, compliant, and fit-for-purpose structural designs while ensuring adherence to industry codes, legislative requirements, and good engineering practice.

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform structural stability and integrity calculations for offshore and subsea structures under in-service, installation, and transportation load conditions.
  • Design structural members, determining appropriate size, shape, strength, and materials to meet project requirements.
  • Prepare, review, and validate engineering deliverables including feasibility studies, detailed design reports, specifications, data sheets, and material take-offs (MTOs).
  • Conduct concept and detailed design of lifting arrangements and steel structures such as lift points, grillage, sea fastening, and lifting appliances.
  • Carry out advanced structural strength verification, including non-linear Finite Element Analysis using tools such as SACS.
  • Coordinate structural engineering inputs within multi-disciplinary project teams, ensuring delivery within approved budget and schedule.
  • Review construction drawings and reports, and perform quality control on deliverables prepared by other engineers.
  • Provide engineering support during fabrication, transportation, installation, and offshore execution phases.
  • Participate in bid clarifications, kick-off meetings, design reviews, and other key project events.
  • Ensure full compliance with contractual specifications, applicable codes and standards, and Company Management System (CMS) requirements.

Health, Safety, Security & Environment (HSSE) Responsibilities

  • Demonstrate strong commitment to health, safety, and environmental standards.
  • Promote high HSE awareness and ensure compliance with all safety procedures during project execution.

Quality Assurance / Quality Control Responsibilities

  • Review and approve structural calculations and analyses prepared by Structural Engineers.
  • Ensure all engineering deliverables meet quality, regulatory, and project requirements.

Key Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil or Structural Engineering or a related engineering discipline.
  • Professional registration with the Institute of Structural Engineers or equivalent body.
  • Minimum of 10 years’ experience in offshore engineering, with at least 7 years in engineering design.
  • Strong experience in structural design for offshore Oil & Gas projects.
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD and SACS, with the ability to generate MTOs from structural drawings.
  • Solid knowledge of design codes, standards, and offshore transportation, installation, and construction techniques.
  • Excellent communication, time management, and team coordination skills.
  • Proven supervisory and mentoring capability for junior engineers.
  • Strong understanding of HSE standards and quality management systems (QHSES).
