Job Description

St. Dominic Catholic Hospital is seeking a qualified and experienced Sonographer to join its Diagnostic Centre team in Ibadan. The role involves performing high-quality ultrasound examinations, supporting accurate patient diagnosis, maintaining imaging standards, and ensuring excellent patient care within a clinical environment.

Salary: N300,000 – N350,000 monthly

Job Responsibilities
  • Perform routine and specialized ultrasound scans including abdominal, pelvic, obstetric, vascular Doppler, musculoskeletal, and small parts examinations
  • Explain ultrasound procedures to patients and obtain relevant clinical history before scanning
  • Optimize image quality through appropriate patient positioning, equipment settings, and transducer selection
  • Recognize normal and abnormal sonographic findings and provide preliminary reports for Radiologist review
  • Maintain patient privacy, dignity, confidentiality, and safety during all examinations
  • Operate, calibrate, and maintain ultrasound equipment while reporting faults promptly
  • Carry out daily and weekly quality control checks and maintain accurate QC records
  • Ensure proper infection prevention by disinfecting ultrasound probes and equipment after each use
  • Maintain accurate patient records, scan logs, and image archives in compliance with hospital policies
  • Participate in departmental meetings, audits, and continuous professional development activities
  • Support efficient appointment scheduling and patient flow within the Diagnostic Centre

Job Requirements
  • BSc in Radiography with specialization in Ultrasound or Diploma in Diagnostic Ultrasound from a recognized institution
  • Current practicing license with the Radiographers Registration Board of Nigeria (RRBN)
  • Registration with the NNRA as a radiation worker where applicable
  • Minimum of 2 years post-qualification experience in a hospital or diagnostic centre
  • Experience in obstetric and Doppler ultrasound will be an added advantage
  • Proficiency in abdominal, pelvic, obstetric, and small parts ultrasound scanning
  • Basic IT knowledge for PACS and RIS usage
  • Strong anatomical knowledge and attention to detail
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and patient care skills
  • Ability to work under pressure with minimal supervision
