Job Description
Yassir is seeking a highly experienced Staff Backend Engineer to provide technical leadership within its Last Mile Delivery domain. The role focuses on driving backend architecture, improving engineering standards, and mentoring teams while building scalable and high-performance distributed systems. This position is fully remote within Nigeria.
Job Responsibilities
- Design, build, and maintain scalable backend features using Node.js and Go
- Drive technical standards, architecture decisions, and backend best practices
- Lead design and code reviews to ensure quality and performance
- Collaborate with multiple squads to manage dependencies and delivery cycles
- Mentor junior engineers and support team growth across squads
- Contribute to technical roadmaps and long-term engineering strategy
- Conduct technical interviews and support hiring processes
- Perform feasibility studies to validate functionality and capability
- Develop and execute complex, multi-tier distributed software applications
- Improve engineering standards, tooling, and internal processes
Job Requirements
- Strong backend engineering experience with Node.js and Go
- Solid understanding of programming fundamentals and system design
- Proven experience building scalable distributed systems
- Proficiency in Git and collaborative development workflows
- Experience writing testable code and implementing unit tests
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Excellent communication and leadership abilities
- Experience with A/B testing and data-driven product development is an advantage
- Previous experience in a fast-growing startup, especially within on-demand services, is a plus
